IT Systems Architect
E-Logic is seeking an experienced IT Systems Architect to support the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Audit Information Management System (AIMS) Digitalization initiative. This program supports the IRS Taxpayer Digital Communications (TDC) strategic goals by modernizing and enhancing mission-critical systems that improve digital communication and operational efficiency. The selected candidate will provide architecture, systems engineering, software integration, and technical leadership support for AIMS modernization, operations, and maintenance activities in a highly specialized UNISYS mainframe environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and support enterprise system architectures aligned with IRS standards and business objectives.
- Functionally decompose system architecture into technical components and validate overall system design.
- Develop and maintain System Design Descriptions (SDDs), Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs), and architecture documentation.
- Support Logical Design Reviews and Physical Design Reviews.
- Coordinate architecture integration with IRS enterprise architecture models and modernization initiatives.
- Analyze system performance, reliability, scalability, and operational requirements.
- Support software engineering activities, system integration, and development lifecycle activities.
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, SMEs, and IRS stakeholders on technical solutions and enhancements.
- Support configuration management, release management, and deployment readiness activities.
- Participate in technical reviews, root cause analysis, testing support, and production issue resolution.
- Support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities including incident management, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
- Assist with documentation, disaster recovery planning, and system transition/knowledge transfer activities.
- Ensure compliance with IRS Engineering Lifecycle (ELC), EVM, and security standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in systems architecture, enterprise systems engineering, or infrastructure design.
- Experience supporting large-scale government or enterprise IT environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Systems architecture and integration
- Software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Configuration management methodologies
- Release management and testing processes
- Experience with:
- UNISYS mainframe environments
- COBOL-based systems
- CMPlus or similar configuration management tools
- Database and batch processing systems
- Ability to produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and system specifications.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
