The IT Subject Specialist for Cloud Linux will manage the operations and administration of cloud-hosted and on-premises Linux servers to support the BEA's mission-critical systems. This role combines system administration, security enforcement, and performance tuning to ensure high availability and efficiency of Linux-based environments. Responsibilities:<ul><li>Serve as the primary administrator for Linux servers, both on-premises and cloud-based.</li><li>Support operations for public-facing systems hosted in cloud environments like Azure.</li><li>Install, configure, and maintain Linux server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.</li><li>Administer Apache, MySQL, and PHP environments as part of the LAMP stack.</li><li>Monitor and apply system-level security patches and kernel updates.</li><li>Implement firewall, encryption, and intrusion detection solutions.</li><li>Ensure compliance with federal information security requirements.</li><li>Create and test disaster recovery plans and backups.</li><li>Troubleshoot server errors, service outages, and resource bottlenecks.</li><li>Draft technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and recommendations for improving Linux/cloud performance and governance.</li></ul>Skills/Experience:<ul><li>5+ years in Linux system administration, with at least 2 years supporting cloud-hosted environments.</li><li>Strong experience with Red Hat/CentOS or Ubuntu in production environments.</li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud architecture and Linux VM management.</li><li>Experience with scripting languages (Bash, Python) and automation tools.</li><li>Proficiency in configuring and securing Apache, MySQL, and PHP.</li><li>Experience working within a government or regulated environment is a plus.</li><li>Strong documentation and communication skills.</li></ul> Important Notice:&nbsp;This role is part of a proposal for the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA).
